Even back in Roman times under the emperor

Tacitus the beer of the Germans was praised. However, only the Bavarian purity act of 1516 founded the world-wide reputation of the beer which was to be made solely of barley, hops and water. This edict also laid the foundation for my tradition-filled profession. For centuries all the brewers stored and aged their beer in oak casks. Every detail is crucial for the flavor of the beer, from the mixture of ingredients to the quality of the wooden barrels. That is why each brewer keeps his own formula secret. Brewers always were and still are entitled to “free beer” which keeps us strong and healthy.
