Everyone seems to have his own hobby. And that’s why in many an apartment and on many an office window sill, an entire row of cactus can be seen, that have been painstakingly and lovingly cultivated by their owners. 

For the cactus fan then, the highpoint of every year is the time when a cactus begins to blossom. Really beautiful blossoms in unusual shapes and in marvelous colors can be seen. Less appealing are the prickly stems, that usually characterise such cacti. They remind us so very much of the wild growing cacti in tropical southern climes. These are especially prickly — and we here in the mountains aren’t especially fond of their fruits, which can now even be bought here.
